Three-Minute Interview: Natalie

Written by Giedre on 29th January 2019

It is our people that make AbBaltis what it is. In the second instalment of our on going series, we spend a few minutes getting to know our Shipping Laboratory Supervisor Natalie.

What were you doing before you joined AbBaltis?

Before I started working here I was undertaking my degree in Biomedical Science at the University of Kent. After I completed that I worked within the NHS; working nightshifts in a hospital haematology department. I think there was a natural progression to working here as we work with blood products – but I definitely prefer the hours here compared to when I was working overnight!

What has been your journey here at AbBaltis?

I first heard about AbBaltis when they came to one of our university jobs fairs. A friend of mine had picked up a flyer and when I told her that I was looking for a job she told me that they were hiring. I joined in July 2017 as a Laboratory Technician and haven’t looked back! After working here for a year I was promoted to Shipping Laboratory Supervisor, upon the completion of a Team Leader course.

What does your job entail?

I’m responsible for getting shipments out of the door and looking after our laboratory assistants Vanessa and Charlotte. I’m certainly enjoying the supervisor side of my role and I hope that as the company continues to grow I will be able to develop my own role and responsibilities.

What do you like about working here?

The team are great – there’s a wonderful atmosphere and lots of good teamwork taking place. It’s a lovely environment to work in. I also relish the variety of what I do each day – every job I do for a customer is slightly different, which keeps things interesting.

Finally, tell us a “fun fact” about yourself

In my spare time I enjoy amateur photography – mostly landscapes, nature and most often pictures of my cat! I like to draw pictures of animals but perhaps they’re not as good as I would like!
