Introducing Claudia

Written by Giedre on 10th January 2020

Everyone at AbBaltis is delighted to welcome another new team member aboard: our new Quality Assurance Officer Claudia.

Claudia has joined us having previously worked for a number of different scientific companies, including working with diagnostic test kit manufacturers, and working to improve manufacturing processes.

Giedre discussed why she was so pleased to have Claudia joining the team: “As AbBaltis grows as a business I want to ensure that we keep providing our customers with the excellent customer service that they have come to expect from us. Sometimes as a business gets bigger, it can be harder to maintain that personal service. Claudia will be helping us do this by ensuring we have the best possible policies and procedures in place. She is going to be working separately from our other teams, effectively keeping her ‘independent’ so that she can ensure everything continues to run smoothly and any issues that might arise are resolved straight away and fixed so that they don’t occur again.”

Claudia will be working with us on a part-time basis, and part-time work is another thing that Giedre is keen for AbBaltis to champion.

“I think that there is a huge amount of talented people out there whose talents are not being utilised,” Giedre explained. “As we are now in 2020, it is important that we recognise that not everyone’s lives support working a nine-to-five, Monday-to-Friday job. Getting part-time members of the team has been a fabulous success for us. Not only does it help people to find good jobs that work around their other commitments, such as family or education, but also growing businesses like ours can use skilled people for roles where we don’t have a need for a full-time person. Taking Claudia as an example, there would not be a need for us to have a full-time person in this role, but taking her on part-time means that we have an incredibly experienced person joining the team for as much as is needed.”

Claudia also spoke about joining the team: “Everyone here at AbBaltis has been so friendly and welcoming – the whole team is incredibly supportive. It seems like such a nice place to work. Working part-time is perfect for me at this stage in my life, as it makes it much easier for me to be around for my son.”

Claudia holds a number of qualifications, including a PhD in Bioprocess Engineering from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, an MSc in Industrial Biotechnology from Newcastle, and a Diplom-Ingenieur in Bio-Verfahrenstechnik (Masters Degree in Bioprocess Engineering) from Germany.

Welcome to the team, Claudia!
