Promotions abound here at AbBaltis

Written by Giedre on 05th November 2018

Here at AbBaltis we are dedicated to developing our people so that as our business develops, their skills and responsibilities continue to progress too.

As part of this commitment, we are delighted to announce that Rik has been promoted to Senior Lab Technician.

Rik joined our team two years ago after approaching us to undertake some voluntary work so that he could gain crucial work experience. Rik discussed his journey with AbBaltis so far:

“I graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University with a First Class Degree in Biosciences but discovered that the job market was quite tough. I found that because I focused on doing my absolute best in my degree it meant I hadn’t accrued much work experience. I had come across AbBaltis at a University job fair and took a leaflet, which I held on to for a while - I still have it now! I eventually approached AbBaltis and asked if I could come and gain some work experience. I volunteered for around six weeks, and when a permanent position as a lab assistant/technician came up I applied for it – the rest is history!”

Our Managing Director Giedre commented on Rik’s promotion: “I’m so pleased for Rik, as his promotion is incredibly well deserved. It has been such a joy to see him progress, both personally and professionally over the last two years; and as a manager it is wonderful to see how much he has come out of his shell and has emerged as an integral part of our team. I hope that as our business continues to grow we will be able to help more young scientists like Rik to get their first step on the career ladder; as I am committed to empowering the next generation of scientists as best I can. They are the future.”

Rik’s advancement comes hot on the heels of two other recent promotions. Natalie was promoted to Shipping Laboratory Supervisor and Zach became Business Administrator upon the completion of his Apprenticeship with us.
