Description of Duties

  • Oversee day to day operations of the AbBaltis facility from sourcing, receiving, testing and sending material out to the customer
  • Streamline operations, processes and workflows, identifying and implementing improvements to the current systems
  • Identify and execute the balance between customer requirements, inventory optimisation, efficiencies, capacity planning and execution
  • Review working practices to ascertain efficiencies and successes, devising alternatives if required
  • Calculate and monitor cost of purchasing and testing material
  • Optimise systems for storage and monitoring of stock, identifying ways to reduce stock levels
  • Identify ways to mitigate the effect of changes to key material suppliers
  • Work with Supply Chain Manager to identify additional suppliers ensuring that supply chain becomes more robust
  • Monitor and manage sourcing, production and laboratory budgets ensuring financial targets and agreed targets are met
  • Ensure safety regulations are followed at all times
  • Keep staff motivated, carry out staff appraisals, identify any gaps in training and organise relevant training where necessary
  • Quality management – work towards gaining ISO 9001
  • Ensure department meetings are running smoothly and chaired correctly
  • Keep up to date with current industry developments
  • Monitor customer satisfaction, report any issues and suggest improvements
  • Motivate and support sales team to provide exceptional customer service and reach sales targets
  • Work with Managing Director to ensure the best performance from staff
  • Work alongside HR to recruit staff for vacancies within the business
  • Identify and research laboratory equipment needs for future use, including automation
  • Improve ergonomics and working practices in the lab, ensuring full efficiency of the facility at all times

Candidate requirements:

  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in management and supervisory role
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to develop relationships with colleagues
  • Experience is logistics, exporting, supply chain preferred
  • Effective communicator
  • Proven project management skills
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to develop, empower and nurture team
  • Collaborative and personable
  • Happy to adapt to ever changing business landscape
  • Talent to listen and understand team needs
  • Degree in Science advantageous, but not essential 

Salary £45,000 - £55,000 dependent on experience
